ISLAMIC MARRIAGE/ NIKAH SERVICE

We currently provide a Nikah Service for Islamic marriages.

PLEASE NOTE: Carlisle Islamic Centre is not registered as a place for the solemnisation of marriage and therefore this nikah (Muslim marriage) will not be recognised in British law. A civil ceremony must take place at a registry office for the marriage to be recognised.
PRE MARRIAGE REQUIREMENTS
Criteria in English Law;
Must be over 16 (this is likely to change in the next 6 months)
If under 18 parental or legal guardian’s consent required
Must not be already married
Must not be closely related
Carlisle Islamic Centre Requirements;
Required to provide proof of age
Proof of address
Proof of immigration status/nationality
If divorced a decree absolute is required
Mohr must be established
Where a parent or guardian is involved they will need to prove there relationship and provide their own identification proof.

COSTS
The cost associated for a CIC representative to carry out necessary checks, perform the Nikah within the Carlisle locality and provide a contract of Islamic Marriage is £150.
Any services that need to be carried outside of the Carlisle locality will incur additional costs to cover travel expense and time.
